Prague

Hello!

It’s been a while since I’ve gotten a chance to write and even now, I need to get some sleep. Just wanted to catch everyone up on what we’ve been up to before dozing off. Since yesterday afternoon, we’ve been in Prague, Czech Republic. It’s a beautiful city!  It’s got the extravagant architecture of the old world along with some of the cleaner, simpler styles of the new. Unfortunately,  it’s been cold and rainy so I haven’t been in the most chipper mood. If you know me, you know that if I’m outside in the cold, I’ll do just about anything to get somewhere warm. Tyler is practically immune to the cold, so he’s definitely starting to really understand what hatred for cold weather really means by spending all this time with me.

Anywho, this morning we went on a city tour where we got to see Wenceslas Square, Old Town Square, the famous (?) Clock tower,  an old church,  and the Jewish Quarter. Our tour guide was Czechoslovakian and she did a really awesome job of explaining the history in an interesting way. After the tour, we joined some of our fellow tourists for lunch to have a good traditional Czech meal (pork, dumplings and cabbage/spinach with beer). Tyler loves the food here but I think it’s just ok. Also, I’m shocked at the feeble beer selection. The Czech Republic is known for having the most beer consumed per person per year in all of the world. With that fact in mind, I expected there to be a lot of options, but most restaurants only have 1-2 types of beer available. This confuses me, but I suppose I must be missing something.

Lunch was fun. We got to know a couple of Indians, an Australian, a New Zealander, and a girl from LA. They all had pretty cool travel tales and the girl from LA made me really want to go to Morocco. She made a really good point about how crazy it is wrapping your head around where you are in the world after a 2 hour plane/train ride. It’s hard to believe that we’re all the way in Prague and I don’t know if it’s because I’m tired or what, but I keep on forgetting where I am. Tomorrow evening,  we’ll be catching a train to Munich where we’ll spend a day and then… finally head to Venezia! Ahh just like my last trip, the Northern parts of Europe are nice, but those southern countries are really calling my name with their warmer weather,  beautiful languages,  and delicious cuisine.

Last night, we ate at a Czech place and tonight we went to an Italian restaurant and both were good, but I’m just waiting to get my hands on some good Italian gelato, pasta,  pizza, and cappucinos!

Welp, bedtime for me! It may be a couple of days again, but I’ll try to do a better job of documenting the cool things we’re seeing and learning.

Picture time!

At a cafe. The struggle to keep warm lead me to buy a new scarf and wear 2 at once. Waiting for warmth
