I made it!

Pip pip, cheerio from London! Boy, was that a long day of traveling, but I am now in my comfortable hostel for the night with my great new travel companions. My flights both went well. The first flight was 8 hours from Washington to Copenhagen, Denmark. I hardly slept but boy did they feed us well! Shrimp scampi with bread and cheesecake for dinner and turkey sandwich with fruit and Greek yogurt for breakfast. I probably slept for about 4-5 hours on the plane. The flight was also really awesome because my assigned seat was

a.) a window seat which is my favorite because I like to see what’s going on
b.) a lone seat. No one was next to me, so I could lean as much as I wanted on the seat next to me!

When we landed in Copenhagen, I had 3 hours to kill, so I slept on a bench like a homeless person. It was very odd waking up to the sound of a lady yelling in Danish over the PA system, but cool at the same time. My next flight was only 2 hours, but it went by pretty fast because the lady I was sitting next to was very interesting to talk to. She was originally from LA but moved to Denmark and said that she absolutely loves it. Everyone rides their bikes to work and they have universal healthcare which she said was amazing. Everyone contributes, everyone benefits. I don’t know the particular details of how it works, but it seems to me like a community effort. Everyone’s got to be willing to give more to benefit everyone. Anyway, she was a very cool lady and I’m glad I met her. She was going to London “on holiday” with her wife. AND DID I MENTION minimum vacation in Denmark, she told me, is 5 weeks out of the year. Even for fast food restaurant employees. Wow.

Well right now I am sitting in the hostel room and Rusti Anne and Christian are both asleep and they’re making me tired. I’m gonna go for a little walk to try to find a place with free wifi so I can post this. Then I’m coming back and hittin the sack! Tomorrow we plan to put our big suitcases in a storage unit then head to Belgium for stop número uno on our European adventure! Weeee!!!!

P.S sorry if the formatting looks weird, I typed and posted this from my iPod. Oh and also, I haven’t explored London very much at all yet, but it really seems a lot like America to me. Except the dc metro>London tube. Ok I’m really done now!Image
