Paris

Bonjour!

Today me and Tyler explored Paris. If you can believe it, I actually love this city. It’s got so many beautiful landmarks, a variety of quiet, busy, and quaint cobblestone streets, and the French seriously have their food game on point. We got crepes in the morning with a beautiful view of the Pantheon (the dome is under construction,  but the facade was still very nice to look at), went to Notre Dame,  Napoleon’s burial site, and the Eiffel tower. We walked everywhere today and both of us are most definitely going to be sore in the feet and legs tomorrow. We probably walked about 10 miles but since we walked everywhere, we got to see so much of the city! My favorite place is a little network of cobblestone streets filled with shops and restaurants and people everywhere. I did realize that we mostly kept to ourselves today, only talking to other people when necessary.  I didn’t want to get yelled at by French people for not speaking the language,  so despite my love for the city, I still can’t say anything about the people. Actually the waiter at the restaurant where we ate dinner was really nice and helped us learn how to pronounce some of the words off the menu that we were totally butchering. I’m excited to get to Spain and Italy where I’ll actually be able to form full sentences and ask where the bathroom is.

Our plan for tomorrow is to go to the Louvre and head to Berlin on a night train. We’ve booked our hostel for the night and I’m psyched to have found a good price in a good room at a place I stayed in last year.

Well, I’m very tired so I’m going to abruptly end this post with some pictures!

Notre dame – constructed between 1160 and 1345. Still. Standing. Also, still beautiful. Also it was restored in the mid-1800’s
