Belgium

Bonjour/however you say hello in Flemish!

Today we explored Brugge, Belgium! We took a train from London this morning after dropping our stuff off in storage to Brussels. We then had to transfer trains to get to where we are now, a lovely city called Brugge. I’m realizing today that the historical significance of a lot of these places will be totally lost on me, but I will enjoy myself regardless. Some weird things I noticed/learned today:

– you have to pay 50eurocents to use public bathrooms here. You pay or you wet your pants
-the cows here lay down!
-Belgians in train stations do not share friendly smiles
– holland is the same as the Netherlands
– waterkooi of fish  is DELICIOUS. It’s a watery stew with a bunch of fish and onions and other delicious things

So when we got here we did the basic tourist thing and walked around taking pictures of everything. The buildings here are so beautiful and soo many people ride bikes and I don’t think there is a speed limit because this one dude was goin like 60mph on a pretty short street with a biker on it. Come to think of it, I don’t think I’ve seen any law enforcement here yet. So we’re staying the night in a hostel recommended by our waiter at the restaurant we had dinner in. There are canals here with bridges and I swear it looks just like a picture out of National Geographic. I’ve taken plenty of pics on my iPod so I could post them here. Well the night is young and I’d like to walk around before it gets dark, so I better go! Just wanted to keep you guys updated! Tomorrow, we’re getting Belgian chocolates and waffles and then off to Amsterdam whoop whoop!ImageImageImageImageImage
